A Fantastic Day of Golf and Camaraderie
On Thursday, 16th October 2025, another memorable staging of the Handsworth B Team Bash took place. This annual event, organised by the ever-enthusiastic B Team Captain Winston McLean, brings together all the opposition teams that the B Team have faced throughout the season. Each invited club is encouraged to return with a team of four players to compete for the prestigious B Team Trophy.
The format for the day was a combined pairs better ball, played off 85% of each player’s course handicap, ensuring fair and competitive scoring. Meanwhile, Handsworth’s own B Team members took part in a separate pairs better ball competition, again off 85% handicap, adding an extra layer of friendly rivalry among home players.
Conditions could not have been better. The weather stayed dry and pleasantly warm, and the course was presented in excellent condition — credit to the Grounds Team for their continued hard work throughout the season. After the golf, everyone enjoyed a superb curry and a relaxed, friendly presentation evening in the clubhouse.
Results
B Team Trophy
The winners of the B Team Trophy were Kidderminster, producing a remarkable total of 92 points, finishing well clear of South Staffs, who secured second place with 82 points.

A truly impressive performance from all four players.
Handsworth B Team Competition
Among Handsworth’s own players, the top honours went to brothers Yusif & Iqbal Suleman, who returned a superb score of 45 points to claim first place. In second place were Jaz Marwaha and Martin Keogh with 43 points, edging out Terry Bansall & Tim Davis on a back-nine countback.

Earlier in the Season
Earlier in the year, the B Team and invited guests competed for the Amrik Kalsi Memorial Trophy. This event was won by Yusif Suleman, who continued his impressive form with a score of 41 points.
Winston was once again on hand to present the trophy.
On the Saturday before the Bash, B Team members also played for the B Team Cup. The top three were:
- Stewart Quaif – 41 points
- Mohammad Bostin – 39 points
- Yusif Suleman – 38 points
Winston presented Stewart with the trophy in recognition of a strong and consistent round.

Winston then closed proceedings with a warm speech celebrating the camaraderie and sportsmanship that define B Team golf. He also expressed sincere appreciation to all players who have represented the team this season, particularly those who stepped in at short notice.
A thoroughly enjoyable day, played in the true spirit of friendly competition. We look forward to doing it all again next year!
