On Saturday 20 June, we held our Captain and Lady Captain’s Day, with members and guests coming together for a day of tradition, friendship, fun and great golf.
The weather was kind, and it was fantastic to see more than 90 entrants take part in the main 19-hole pairs competition.
After the main competition, golfers and non-golfers joined in with a chipping-and-putting pairs competition, where the golfer chipped and the non-golfer putted. The day was then rounded off with a drinks reception and hot finger buffet.

Congratulations to all the prizewinners, and thank you to everyone who took part, supported the day and helped create such an enjoyable atmosphere.
A special thank you also goes to all those whose hard work behind the scenes made the day possible, from organising the competitions to preparing the clubhouse, catering and presentation arrangements. Events like this are a reminder of the friendship, support and club spirit that make days at Handsworth so enjoyable.
We hope everyone who attended had a memorable day, and we look forward to seeing many of you again at the Captain and Lady Captain’s Charity Day on 18 July.
The event will help raise money for the Captain and Lady Captain’s chosen charities: DEBRA UK, the UK’s EB patient support organisation, and A Child’s Heart, which provides children in care homes, shelters and refuges across the Midlands with presents at Christmas.
