A memorable opening hole and one of Handsworth’s signature moments: a dogleg right par four that asks you to take on the lake from the tee.
Hole overview
A confident tee shot over water sets up the hole.
The first hole is a dogleg right par four, requiring a tee off over the lake. It is certainly not the easiest start to your round from the back tees.
Keep your drive to the left-hand side of the fairway for the best approach into the green. The putting surface is well protected, with three bunkers guarding the approach.

Playing notes
Shape the hole from left to right, but do not chase the corner too early.
The water carry makes the tee shot feel dramatic, but the real reward comes from finding the fairway. A controlled drive towards the left half gives a clearer view and a more comfortable approach.
