Sizzling Scores at the Senior Pairs Open – July 2025
Despite the recent spell of hot weather leaving fairways across the country – ours included -extremely dry and running fast, players were treated to a superb test of golf at the Handsworth Golf Club Senior Pairs Open on Thursday 24th July.
In total, 144 members and visitors competed in what was a thoroughly enjoyable and well-contested event.
While the fairways provided plenty of run, the greens were in exceptional condition—true, smooth, and a real credit to the greens staff, offering players the chance to convert putts with confidence throughout the day.
Overall Winners
Congratulations to Handsworth members Ian Ward and Andy Crowson, who claimed top honours with an outstanding betterball score of 46 points. Their local knowledge and consistency proved vital on a day when precision was key.
140+ Age Group Winners
In the 140+ combined age category, Chris Connerton and Phil Foster from Oxley Park rose to the top with a solid 42 points, clinching the win on a best back 6 of 15 points. A fantastic effort in a closely contested division!
